IBM to build one of Europe’s largest computers

SC Online yesterday posted an announcement that Germany’s Max Planck Society is putting in 100 TF of IBM’s new Power6 gear. The institutes of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science perform basic research in the interest of the general public in the natural sciences, life sciences, social sciences, and the humanities.

The system will come online in 2008. The guys at MPS are also putting in a Blue Gene for good measure.
