From Supercomputing Online this morning:
Ken Kennedy, the founder of Rice University’s nationally ranked computer science program and one of the world’s foremost experts on high-performance computing, died Feb. 7 at a Houston hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was 61.
I crossed paths with Professor Kennedy several times, and was always richer for the experience. His leadership will be missed.
