Intel’s CTO on 80 cores

Two things:

1. Intel’s CTO Justin Rattner blogs at ZDnet.

2. His latest entry offers some of his insight into what non-supercomputing folk might do with 80 cores on one chip. It’s an interesting quick read. The punchline: with that much horsepower we can start replacing really complex operating systems with a brute force approach that might even make AI look like a reasonable solution for some problems.
