(Who says you can’t work Clint Eastwood film references into an HPC blog?)
SC Online reported earlier this week that the Dutch are putting in a new IBM next-generation POWER system:
SARA and IBM have announced that IBM has been granted the contract to build the Dutch National Supercomputer devoted to solving grand challenges of science. The new system will be hosted by SARA Computing and Networking Services; the National Supercomputing Center and one of Europe’s most advanced ICT service centers.
60 TFLOPS peak when the whole thing is finally installed in the second quarter of 2008. IBM is tiding SARA over in the meantime with a 14 TF Power5+ system (about 4x more capacity than they currently have).
