…and she dances on the sand (yes, I am now quoting Duran Duran; where else do you get 80s pop culture mixed with HPC?).

Anyway, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro just bought an SGI Altix 450 with 32 Intel(R) Itanium(R) 2 processors with 64GB of memory. The system will be used “for projects ranging from protecting the Amazon to international grid computing.”
