SGI’s Liquid Cooled ICE

In order to address the growing problem of efficiently managing heat in a data center, SGI has engineered a new cooling system for their Altix ICE 8200 blade server series. The system includes four chilled water heat exchangers on the inside of the exhaust door.

    IBM has been doing something pretty similar for several years. It’s an option on their power5 and power6 systems.
