Tohoku University Orders NEC SX-9

SCOnline: NEC announced today that the Information Synergy Organization’s Information Synergy Center at Japan’s Tohoku University has placed an order for their latest vector supercomputer, the SX-9. The system consists of 16 SX-9 nodes with an estimated peak performance of 26.2 TFLOPS. The is just the latest installment of SX series vector machines for the ISC. They have been purchasing the SX series since 1986.
