Europe’s fastest supercomputer

SC07: It does not appear to be announced on their own website yet, but the Julich Supercomputing Centre has announced that the fastest supercomputer in Europe, and the second fastest worldwide, a 167 TFLOPS, 16 rack IBM BlueGene/P is now operational according to this story.

It is believed that the system will be listed on the new Top500 list to be announced later today at SC07 in Reno.

Julich Supercomputing Centre is a also a leading partner in the PRACE project (page in German), working towards European Petascale computing services.
