Storage start-up Terascala announced a new storage product this week aimed at HPC

Delivering over three times the price/performance of storage-area network (SAN) solutions in a fully configured and tuned appliance, the RTS 1000 works with Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet or InfiniBand networks to ensure that applications read, write and store data rapidly during run time. The challenge of run time storage, the ability to efficiently deliver and write data quickly, is significant for organizations using computing clusters to process large datasets because it demands a high throughput, high capacity storage solution to effectively store data.

The Lustre-based appliance supports up to 40 TB per 8U high enclosure and up to 192 TB in a standard rack with over 1.8 GB/sec throughput on InfiniBand or 10GB Ethernet networks.
