Panasas Mulling Office in Qatar

panasasOn a recent visit to Carnegie Mellon Qatar, Garth Gibson announced that Panasas is exploring the option of opening an office in Qatar. Gibson, who is also a professor at Carnegie Mellon Pittsburgh, is the founder of Panasas, a company focused mainly on clustered storage and file systems for high performance computing applications.

Panasas is reaching out to companies in the entire Gulf region so we are looking into having a development site close to them, and because of Carnegie Mellon Qatar, we are looking at opening in Doha,” he told a gathering of CMUQ students.

Outside of discussions surrounding how Gibson founded Panasas out of his university research, he also spoke with representatives from the Qatar Science and Technology Park on the possibility of opening a branch.
