NMTech Regents Approve Participation at NMCAC

Abbreviations anyone? The New Mexico Tech Board of Regents has announced that they have approved a resolution supporting the New Mexico Computing Applications Center [NMCAC].  The center houses the current third fastest supercomputer on the planet, an SGI Altix ICE 8200.

What’s the catch? They made it clear that all management and operations duties [financially speaking] are the burden of the state, not NMTech.

[NMTech President Daniel H.] López said the university should be clear about insisting that the state of New Mexico provide the funding for the project and that Tech not accept any direct financial obligation for the supercomputer.
