pnnlThe Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory [PNNL] has announced that it will break ground later this month on two new laboratories.  The privately funded construction project will house the Biological Sciences Facility and the Computational Sciences Facility.  The combined 148,000 sqft will be developed and owned by the Cowperwood Company, a real estate development group in New York.

These new facilities confirm the work we’re doing in the energy, environment and national security arenas is making a significant impact,’ said PNNL Director Mike Kluse. ‘They will allow us to expand our research programs, and once complete, these new facilities will make PNNL among the most modern in the national laboratory system.’

The CSF facility will  house high performance computing, cyber security, information analytics, computational biology research and the various electronic instrumentation labs.  The associated machine floor in the new facility will span 10,000 sqft.
