The Naval Oceanographic Office [NAVO] Major Shared Resource Center [MSRC] has recently announced they have selected IBM for their latest supercomputing platform. IBM will deliver a new P 575 Hydro-Cluster with a peak performance of approximately 90 teraflops. The new machine’s main workload will be supporting the oceanographic modeling and analysis needs of researchers in the DoD.
This new IBM system represents a tremendous increase in the Center’s computational capacity. Many DoD scientists and researchers are looking forward to having this system available to support their computational needs,” said Tom Dunn, Director, NAVO Major Shared Resource Center.
NAVO’s MSRC is one of four Major Shared Resource Centers established under the DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program. For more info on their new machine, read the full release here.
