Bulgaria Opens National Supercomputer Research Center

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev was on hand Tuesday to officially open the new National Supercomputer Center.  The center, located in the building of the State Agency for Information Technology and Telecommunications, will aide Bulgarian scientists and firms with their ongoing research projects.

The list of ground-floor users includes: Sofia University St. Klimet of Ohrid, the Sofia Technical University, the Medical Academy and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.  Projects within these groups will include new drug testing, seismic stability studies and flood risk studies.  According to the PM during his opening speech, the National Supercomputer Center is the first of its kind in Southeast Europe.
