Gizmodo spends time with CX1

I’m assuming at the HPC on Wall Street conference. Their post includes video that appears to have been shot on a show floor of some kind. Interesting observation

Cray’s CX1 supercomputer looks oddly petite in its weird press shot, but we checked it out in person today, and it’s actually like a small sarcophagus loaded with computer guts instead of actual guts.

And, indeed, from the video it does look bigger than I expected it to be. Still want one.

    “it’s actually like a small sarcophagus loaded with computer guts instead of actual guts”

    That is classic. I was sitting at my desk just chuckling when I read that. I’m sure Ian Miller has developed a facial tick from it, but come on, it’s hilarious! It’s not the normal dry run of the mill commentary we normally see.

    I’m just pissed that Gizmodo got to see it before me….I mean, c’mon, this is the premier HPC blog. Shouldn’t I have gotten a review unit? See what you can do, Rich.

    Oh, and since you’re in the UK, can you check into getting me a demo unit of the new Bentley? Cheers mate.

    I’ll see what I can do about that Bentley. Odds are though that you’ll only be getting a beer at supercomputing. (-;
