LSU announced today that they have appointed two new co-directors for the LSU Center for Computation and Technology [CCT].  LSU Provost Astrid Merget and Vice Chancellor Brooks Keel appointed professors Stephen David Beck and Jorge Pullin to the posts.

Beck currently heads the CCT Lab for Creative Arts and Technology and holds a post as Professor of Composition and Computer Music in the LSU school of Music.  Pullin is the Horace Hearne Chair of Theoretical Physics in the LSU Department of Physics and Astronomy.  Both individuals have worked within CCT since its inception in 2003.

Professors Beck and Pullin bring a breadth of experience in applying computational technology to diverse and important areas of research,” Keel said. “Their leadership at the CCT will boost our efforts to foster a multidisciplinary perspective in the computational sciences.”

The new co-directors will first undertake the challenge of finding a new director for CCT.  Their former director, Ed Seidel, recently accepted at the National Science Foundation as the Director of the Office of Cyberinfrastructure.
