Microsoft will be out in force at the the HPC on Wall Street Conference next week, an event to which I wish I was going. From their press release it looks like they have a lot going on

Microsoft logoKeynote: Scaling Out on Wall Street, 8:40 a.m. EDT — Bill Laing, corporate vice president, Windows Server and Solutions Division, will address how firms are responding to the volatile economic environment by implementing an HPC infrastructure to cope with the recent mortgage crisis combined with an overall weak U.S. economy.

More: Microsoft/Cray Partnership. Microsoft recently launched a partnership with Cray to deliver the new Cray CX1 supercomputer pre-integrated with Windows HPC Server 2008. The new product reflects Microsoft and Cray’s shared goal to drive high productivity computing farther into the mainstream.

High-performance computing on Wall Street study. Microsoft will also highlight the company’s recent study of HPC use among professionals in financial services firms. The survey centers on HPC trends and the need for faster tools to complete complex risk computations and enable quantitative analysis.

Interesting set of reps from the mothership too, including Ryan Waite, Vince Mendillo, and Kyril Faenov, all of the HPC Division. If you go, I’d love to have some notes from the conference to post here.
