Senate Confirms Esin Gulari to National Science Board

The US Senate has confirmed the appointment of Clemson’s Esin Gulari to serve on the National Science Board [NSB].  Gulari, dean of the College of Engineering and Science at Clemson University, was nominated by President George Bush along with six other distinguished scientists.

This is a tremendous honor for me as a scientist and an engineer,” said Gulari. “On the NSB, I will be in a unique position to make contributions on a national level. I hope that my participation will bring distinction to the university and focus a national spotlight on Clemson, and more specifically, the exciting work going on in the College of Engineering and Science.”

Since joining Clemson as the first female dean of the College of Engineering and Science, Gulari has created two new units within the college.  The most applicable in our context is the School of Computing, which is tasked with the mission of preparing students for all aspects of computing, including high performance computing.

Congrats to Esin Gulari and her fellow appointees.  For more info on the NSB appointments, read the full article here.
