I’ve been really busy lately, and Joe Landman has a post on recent RIFs in the HPC ecosystem that nicely lays out what’s going on lately, only some of which has been reported here. In short, it’s ugly out there people
News (I guess not unexpected) this morning is that Microsoft is cutting staff, Intel is closing down underutilized resources and cutting staff, IBM is cutting staff, and we heard yesterday from John at InsideHPC.com of more cuts at AMD.
Joe’s post is excellent, and rather than reinvent the wheel, I encorage you to read it. And The Register’s Timothy Prickett Morgan has a bit to say on the RIFs at IBM, Sun, and Intel as well.
