Now, this is the sort of thing that happens in other communities all the time (the Mac community for example, where I used to spend some free time reading — now I just don’t have free time), but it doesn’t happen in HPC very much probably due to the relative paucity of bloggers.
In February I linked to a post at the Cilk Arts blog comparing OpenMP and Cilk (pro Cilk). Sun’s Ruud van der Pas read the post, and thought it misprepresented the OpenMP side of the conversation. Now Charles Leiserson at Cilk has answered back with some criticisms of his own. The Cilk response is complete, including code and measured results to support their points.
