Cisco buys scheduling, application performance management software maker

Timothy Prickett Morgan reported at The Register late last week that Cisco has announced plans to purchase Tidal Software for $105M.

Tidal Software, a privately held maker of job scheduling, application performance management, and IT process automation tools known collectively as Intersperse.

Earlier this week, we reported that Cisco was adamant that it would go on a buying spree with its $29.5bn in cash hoard as other IT companies with useful, niche products have been crushed by the economic meltdown.

Although Cisco hasn’t announced what it intends to do with its new pet, coming as it does on the heals of Cisco’s Unified Computing Solution announcement, one has to speculate that it will bake these new services into the platform.
