CrayAccording to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Tribune, Cray might be on their way to moving the corporate headquarters Mendota Heights offices (mostly engineering and technical folks, I believe) to downtown St. Paul.  The St. Paul Housing and Redevelopment Authority will vote today on whether to approve a $400,000 forgivable loan to Cray Inc. The loan would go towards luring the Seattle-based supercomputer manufacturer to open up shop in St. Paul.  Cray is considering moving 200 employees from Mendota Heights to 48,000 square feet in Galtier Plaza.

I have been personally engaged to ensure that this company has what it needs to do business in St. Paul, and we will continue to make every effort to get this deal done,” [St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman] said.

According to the article, Cray would be out nearly $1.5 million of its own cash for relocation costs for a move by October.  For more info on the loan specifics, read the full article here.
