The Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise [LITE] officially announced that they have named a new CEO.  The LITE Board of Commissioners decided to appoint the interim CEO, Henry Florsheim, as LITE’s first full-time chief exec.  Florsheim had held the post on a temporary basis since November.  In the job, Florsheim will take over the management of a $27 million 3-D visualization and supercomputing facility in UL’s Research Park.  He’ll also take on the task of fighting state budget cuts in higher education that threaten to affect the folks at LITE.

The budget is an issue, but we’re going to be doing some pretty neat things regardless,” Florsheim said. “We’re excited about how far we’ve come in the last eight months.”

Money’s coming in,” Florsheim said. “We’ve got a lot of research projects going on, and we have more commercial prospects than we’ve ever had.”

Currently, LITE has an annual operating budget of $5.7 million.  Just under $900k of that is self-generated, $3.4 million comes from the state and $1.4 million is capital outlay money.  For more info on LITE and their new CEO, read the full release here.
