UCLA Neuroscientists Land $19 Million for Supercomputer

UCLA neuroscientists announced this week that they have been awarded a National Institute for Health [NIH] grant of approximately $19 million for build a new supercomputer.  The grant comes from the NIH via the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, ie stimulus funds.

The grant is designed to help accelerate investment in science in a way that would not only move the field forward but would have positive economic consequences,” Arthur Toga, director of the UCLA Laboratory of Neuro Imaging, tells DOTmed News.

The grant is meant to help develop new devices, make new discoveries and bring people into the workforce that we might not otherwise be able to afford,” Toga says.

The neuro team will use the new gear to analyze and interpret brain MRI’s.  For more info, read the full article here.
