This was actually announced last week, but I missed it somehow. BlueArc announced on Wednesday that SGI would begin OEM’ing its Mercury line of storage products under the InfiniteStorage brand. Mercury was announced back in July as a mid-market product. According to BlueArc, the Mercury 50 and 100 will be marketed by SGI as the InfiniteStorage NAS 50 and InfiniteStorage NAS 100.

SGI logo“BlueArc’s technical expertise and proven ability in providing high performance, highly scalable solutions in HPC environments, are an excellent complement to SGI’s storage portfolio,” said Mike Gustafson, president and CEO, BlueArc. “This partnership will help deepen and accelerate Mercury’s reach in key markets, where SGI has strong expertise.”

Mercury systems with the new nameplate start shipping in December. BlueArc has other partnerships in our space, including one with Cray announced back in 2007 for the larger-scale Titan 2000 storage system.
