Sun to Cut Another 3,000 Jobs

sunCNNMoney: Sun Microsystems announced yesterday that it would cut another 3,000 jobs.  According to a regulatory filing on Tuesday, Sun cited difficulties and delays in their pending acquisition by Oracle. The deal passed US anti-trust officials, but has been held up in the European Union.

Sun has already cut deep into their workforce.  They’ve trimmed 6,000 jobs since last November.  The latest round of cuts will cost Sun somewhere between $75 and 125 million in severance payments over the next several quarters.  My deepest sympathies to those affected by the cuts.
