The Rocky Mountain Supercomputing Center has announced that they will hold their first open house session this week.  The open house session will allow the general public to see the inner workings of the new center.

We want to educate people about what we do,” Dodd said. “It’s free and there is no such thing as a stupid question and we’re happy to show off.”

Computer operators will present exhibits and simulations on the supercomputer, named Big Sky. They will include wildfire and medical simulations, stock market correlations and structural engineering demonstrations.  Folks from Microsoft, the Montana University System, the National Center for Health Care Informatics and private organizations will present details on their respective HPC workloads.

If you’re interested in attending, the event will take place at the Rocky Mountain Supercomputing Center, located in the Thornton Building at 65 E. Broadway St., from noon to 6pm.
