4-year old cloud computing software company RightScale announced today that they’ve extended their cloud management goodness to Amazon’s storage and compute services

RightScale, Inc., the leader in cloud computing management, today announced the RightScale Grid Computing Solution Pack – a cloud management solution designed specifically for grid processing.

…The RightScale Grid Computing Solution Pack has everything customers need to quickly provision and run a complete, scalable grid application environment in the cloud. It includes a flexible grid framework that is automated, resilient to errors, and 100 percent auditable. Designed to leverage Amazon Web Service’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), SQS (Simple Queue Service) and S3 (Simple Storage Service) capabilities, the RightScale Grid Computing solution can process large numbers of jobs in a scalable and cost efficient manner, yet hide the “plumbing” of any operations specific to AWS so that the customer’s grid application can be plugged in with minimal effort.

Since the solution is build on Amazon’s EC2 it has all of the limitations of that platform for certain kinds of scientific computing — but if you’re already using EC2 the hard way, you may want to take a look at RightScale’s new package.
