Unboxing the pre-Blue Waters gear at NCSA

NCSA LogoThe kids at NCSA are hard at work getting ready for Blue Waters, including the recent completion of their shiny new 88,000 square foot computing facility to cram it into.

As part of those preparations they are installing new IBM 780 hardware at the National Petascale Computing Facility as an interim system to help staff and researchers do application work ahead of the installation of the big machine next year. As you’ll see in the video, that cabinet looks pretty lonely in the middle of all that empty tile!
