DataDirect Networks announced today that their DDN S2A9900 series storage platform has been integrated into the HP Unified Cluster Portfolio.  The package also includes support and integration of the Lustre file system.

For over 10 years, DataDirect Networks has specialized in delivering high-performance products to the unstructured data storage user community,” said Paul Bloch, President of DataDirect Networks. “Our new relationship with HP is testament to our focus on delivering world-class solutions and simplifying the most difficult scale-out challenges.”

Clients need to cost-effectively expand bandwidth and storage for data intensive research and engineering applications,” said Scott Misage, director of research and development, Scalable Computing and Infrastructure, HP. “The combination of DDN technology with HP Cluster Platforms provides clients the flexibility of a custom solution with the simplicity, reliability and value of a preconfigured, factory-built product for high-performance computing applications.”

The S2A9900 Lustre File Storage System is a parallel file storage system that was designed to provide scalable clustered storage performance, operational simplicity and predictable performance. It delivers application scaling and real-time quality of service while delivering 5 to 100s of GB/s of bandwidth and support for 10s of petabytes and 1,000s of file system clients for Lustre customers requiring large file workloads.

This is big news for DDN.  They’re already partners with the likes of IBM, Dell, SGI, Cray and Bull.  Now they add yet another provider and integration juggernaut to their impressive list of partners.  For more info, read their full release here.
