Early registration rates end July 1

If you are a TeraGrid kind of researcher, you’ll want to know that registration is now open for this year’s big confab to be held in Pittsburgh, PA, Aug 2-5.  If you register before July 1 you’ll save $70 off conference registration. More info at the registration page.

Here’s a little about this year’s event from co-chairs Dan Katz and Richard Moore

We view this conference as an opportunity where we, as a community, can gather face-to-face to learn about each other’s accomplishments; catch up with our colleagues, both personally and professionally; understand current research and development; and build for future initiatives. Our setting is the Sheraton Station Square Hotel, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – home to H.J. Heinz, Mellon Bank, and U.S. Steel; the Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins; the Monongahela, Allegheny, and Ohio rivers… and PSC, our gracious host for the event.

This year’s conference is particularly noteworthy since it comes on the cusp of the transition from the current TG program to the next generation eXtreme Digital (XD) program. TG is funded through mid-2011, at which point it is expected to transition to XD. As such, we will focus on some of the major scientific advances enabled by TG to date, highlighting significant discoveries across a wide range of disciplines. And we will peer into the future of cyberinfrastructure for the academic research community, and what we might expect from HPC and grid computing in the petascale era that’s now upon us.
