Intel Introduces Next-Gen RAID on a Chip

In this slidecast, Susan Bobholz from Intel describes the company’s next-generation RAID. The integration of RAID functionality onto the processor eliminates the need for a separate RAID card, leading to a smaller footprint and increased performance. When paired with an integrated SAS controller, the integrated RAID configuration increases overall I/O system performance and can greatly reduce storage solution costs. More information on Intel next-generation RAID can be found on this new Intel Chip Chat podcast.

So this is provides some hardware acceleration for software RAID. But *not* RAID-6. On board SAS controller.

Minor typo in your text – “co9ts” should be “costs”.
