In this video, AMD explains how its new Fusion technology incorporates multi-core CPU (x86) technology and a powerful DirectX®11-capable discrete-level graphics and parallel processing engine onto a single die to create the first Accelerated Processing Unit (APU).

I think it is important to point out that Fusion is a desktop and mobile device play. For HPC applications, AMD offers discrete AMD Firestream GPU Compute Accelerators. In a recent insideHPC podcast interview, AMD’s John Fruehe pointed out that the company has not decided whether or not to integrate Firestream and the CPU on a single die.
