HPC News with Snark: April 1, 2011

It’s been a long couple of weeks here on the road covering the first two of our Spring 2011 HPC events. The news keeps on coming though, so here are some tidbits I picked up along the way:

  • Free Cyclone Cloud for Japan. This week SGI announced that the company is offering technical computing cloud services in Japan, free of charge for the next 90 days to help customers in areas affected by recent disasters.
  • DDN is Top Dog. This week DataDirect Networks came out on top in terms of worldwide HPC storage market share.
  • SC11 Deadline Extensions. SC11 has extended its deadlines by one week the deadlines for submitting technical papers, tutorials, panels and nominations to April 15. In addition, SC11 will make special provisions for those in Japan who want to submit technical program content but need more time because of the recent natural disasters.
