Today AMAX rolled out a new cloud appliance targeted at Small & Medium-sized businesses looking to deploy their own private clouds. The aptly-named CloudMax product combines cloud management automation, unified threat management, and advanced engineering into a ready-to-deploy total solution starting at under $65k.

The CloudMax on-premise, x86-based private cloud appliance is a complete platform that integrates hardware, storage, networking, virtualization, and dynamic management solutions to create a private cloud environment. The CloudMax was designed specifically for SMEs and their diverse computing infrastructure requirements across virtual and physical machines, supporting various hypervisors and operating systems from a single end-to-end management platform. This allows enterprises with limited IT support to leverage the full benefits of private cloud computing without the added complexity or costs. Compared with SMEs manually configuring a similar system, AMAX’s advanced engineering expertise ensures system compatibility, reducing time and eliminating the risk in selecting independent hardware and software components. This decreases IT hours in integrating systems, provisioning and maintenance so a company can focus on staying agile and doing what it does best.

In talks with AMAX last week, I learned how AMAX is leveraging their HPC expertise to address this growing markets. Analysts are forecasting huge growth numbers for private cloud deployments, and the CloudMax product looks to be at a value price point for a turnkey solution–costing roughly the same as one might expect to pay for the hardware alone.
