2011 INCITE Program Awards 1.7 Billion Processor Hours

The DOE INCITE program has published the 2011 INCITE in Review report with case studies on the 10 significant projects that benefitted from the program.

Open to researchers from academia, government labs, and industry, INCITE stands for “the Innovative and Novel Computational Impact on Theory and Experiment. The INCITE program is the major means by which the scientific community gains access to some of the world’s fastest supercomputers to accelerate discoveries and technological innovations.

For the 2011 calendar year, 57 INCITE awardees received a total of 1.7 billion processor hours. The allocations averaged 27 million hours. From INCITE’s inception through the end of 2011, researchers from academia, government laboratories, and industry will have been allotted more than 4.5 billion processor hours to speed innovations and discoveries.
