IBM and HP Dominate Top50 Supercomputing in Russia

CNews is reporting that the latest Top50 list of Russian supercomputers is dominated by IBM and HP. At the top of the list is the T-Platforms supercomputer installed in Lomonosov Moscow State University, which was upgraded in March to a peak performance of 1.3 Petaflops. MSU now has four supercomputers on the list.

For the second time in a row, the leader of Russia`s Top-50 list in terms of the number of HPC-systems is IBM, presented by 20 supercomputers. It is followed by HP with 16 installations. Both vendors have increased the number of their supercomputers on the list by two and together they now occupy over 70% of the rating.

The current Top 5 systems in Russia are:

  1. Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov
  2. Kurchatov Institute
  3. South Ural State University
  4. Interagency superkomyuterny Center Russian Academy of Sciences
  5. Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov
