Over at Dr. Dobbs, Intel’s James Reinders writes that parallelism is everywhere including the cloud and that recent editorials to the contrary are missing the point.

It’s an evolution, not a revolution. It’s silently creeping over everything, and resistance is indeed futile. Relax! Let’s enjoy the ride. The benefits of parallelism are everywhere, and the ability to harness it have become commonplace.

Reinders goes on to say that while not everone will go on to be fine-grained parallelism jocks, today’s well-rounded programmers need to be familiar with data structure programs, and numerical programs, databases, GUIs, and Internet programs. Read the Full Story.
