Over at Scalability.org, Joe Landman writes that IT service provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has extended its suite of cloud services with the acquisition of Computational Research Laboratories (CRL).
Given the depth of HPC experience at CRL, this gets very intriguing going forward with regards to HPC in the cloud (certainly in Asia, but if they can improve the communications to the data center, this could be usable everywhere).
The move has been well-received in the VC community as well. Nandana Das writes that CRL’s strength in creating and managing HPC environments enriches TCS capabilities in infrastructure management, engineering and industrial services and strengthens the focus on creating cloud-based industry platforms.
