In this video, Megan Murphy from Newsy describes how Google assembled a new kind of interactive map to help residents avoid danger from Superstorm Sandy. Complete with a forecast track, cloud imagery, evacuation zones, traffic conditions, flood zone estimates, and red cross emergency shelters, the map brings real-time visualization together with predictive data. The map’s data is collected from multiple sources including the NOAA National Hurricane Center and the U.S. Naval Research laboratory.
