Silicon Mechanics is now offering HPC solutions based on the “Piledriver” Opteron 6300 series processors, which were announced in November by AMD.

Our AMD Opteron 6300 Series processors offer enterprises significant performance gains, high energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness,” said John Williams, vice president, Server Marketing and Business Development, AMD. “Datacenters running robust large-scale systems can now take advantage of the excellent performance while also obtaining compelling TCO.”

According to the company, AMD continues to drive HPC performance with the AMD Opteron 6300 Series processors using optimizations in compilers and libraries, combined with the next-generation core architecture. Key HPC applications, including molecular dynamics workloads LAMMPs and NAMD, benefit significantly from this approach, with enhanced power efficiency and more application performance within the same power budget.
