OpenFabrics Alliance to Host User and Developer Workshops in April

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We”ve gotten some questions from readers, so I wanted to clarify that the OpenFabrics Alliance will be hosting two workshops this April in Monterey, California:

Why two events for different audiences? I caught up with Jim Ryan to learn more:

We have two events because we have two constituencies within the OpenFabrics Alliance. The “Users” are individuals who are responsible for all elements of administering a high-performance network. The “Developers” are individuals who create the high-performance technologies. The events will have some overlap, but the events are specifically designed for users and developers,” Jim Ryan, chairman, OpenFabrics Alliance.

Developer Workshop Call for Presentations

OFA also issued its Call for Presentation Proposals on the following topics:

  • Aspects of scalable architectures
  • Storage and storage at a distance
  • Enterprise or cloud infrastructures
  • Big data acceleration

Each presentation is limited to 30 minutes, including any question and answer period. Notification of acceptance will be sent out on Monday, March 11. Please send an abstract with speaker biography information by March 8 at 12 p.m. PT to <a “href=”mailto:jim.ryan@intel.com”>jim.ryan@intel.com

User Day Workshop – A Venue for OFS Users to Discuss their Challenges

The new User Day Workshop started up last year, and Susan Coulter, HPC Network Administrator at Los Alamos National Laboratory had this to say:

The sole purpose of the User Day Workshop is to bring together everyone and anyone who is currently using OpenFabrics Software (OFS) in their organizations and providing them with a setting to talk with each other about the challenges, different opportunities and permutations in using OFS. Before we started the User Day Workshop last year, there just wasn’t a ton of hard knowledge or information available on OFS, so users were just basically “winging it” to make it work for them. The User Day Workshop was created to give those users different perspectives and features that OFS is capable of providing to their organizations. The workshop also gives users a unique opportunity to be further educated on the different paths of using OFS and how each one can contribute to the other.”

Registration is now open for both workshops. See you there!
