SKODA Auto Acquires Trio of SGI Supercomputers

The European ŠKODA automotive company has purchased three SGI supercomputers to augment its computer-aided engineering (CAE) system. The deal includes an SGI ICE X cluster with over 2300 cores along with two SGI UV 2000 shared memory supercomputers with another thousand cores and 8TB of memory in total.

This 70 Teraflop SGI installation will be used primarily for computational fluid dynamics analysis using ANSYS FLUENT simulation software and OpenFOAM CFD software and for crash analysis using ESI Group PAM-CRASH software. Read the Full Story.
