In this slidecast, Rick Wagner from the San Diego Supercomputer Center describes the “Long-Tail Death Match,” a gaming competition running on a multipanel display at the SDSC booth, #3313 at SC13.. SDSC built the Meteor Cluster for the competition, a Beowulf cluster based on inexpensive Raspberry Pi computing devices.

Starting Tuesday, SDSC staff will host a friendly gaming competition using Meteor, which will be connected to a large tiled display wall of LCD pan els during the show’s exhibit hours. “The goal of Meteor is to educate kids and adults about parallel computing by providing an easy-to under- stand, tangible model of how computers can work together,” said Rick Wagner, SDSC’s manager for high-performance computing.
