This week Fovia presented “Diagnosis is Painless” as part of Intel’s exhibit at SC13. The company showcased High Definition Volume Rendering, an advanced solution that uses off-the-shelf Intel CPUs for real-time visualization, analysis and distribution of large, three-dimensional datasets.

Fovia licenses its HDVR software to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in many fields for native integration of advanced volume visualization applications. HDVR leverages the scalability and flexibility of Intel’s multi-core CPU processors, creating a game-changing combination that exceeds the capabilities of GPU-based imaging systems. By using CPU-based volumetric ray casting to minimize computational costs and maximize quality and performance, HDVR overcomes the many limitations of currently available imaging technologies. Fovia’s HDVR uses sub-voxel super-sampling to achieve superior, high fidelity pixel output that can be deployed locally, enterprise-wide and via the cloud, including on mobile devices.

Systems designed in the next decade to deliver insight on our most important problems will scale up to millions of processor cores with thousands of computational threads,” added Frank Soqui, General Manager for Workstations, Intel. “Fovia will be joining Intel to demonstrate how its multi-core and high fidelity visualization deliver the scalability to help visualize solutions to the medical community’s greatest challenges.”
