The University of South Florida in Tampa is seeking an Assistant Director of Research Computing in our Job of the Week.
This position is responsible for leading a team of systems administrators in the day-to-day administration of the HPC cluster including but not limited to, Infiniband networks, parallel file systems, secure file storage, system provisioning, and queuing systems. This position is responsible for advising the Director of Research Computing on improvements to the HPC systems. This requires the Assistant Director to be able to analyze how changes to the system will affect overall system stability and efficiency. The Assistant Director also advises and participates in the selection of hardware and software acquisitions. This position is responsible to help diagnose issues with scientific software installation and at times be responsible for installation of said software. This includes a deep understanding of the compiler techniques, and their interaction with the other cluster subsystems. This position is responsible for the supervision and training of systems operation staff and will assist with training of faculty and student researchers. This position consults with researchers to determine the proper hardware and software platforms for the researchers HPC tasks. This position will collaborate with technical staff from other IT departments in change management and other system modification issues.
