Lustre Grows Momentum for 2014

bannerWith LUG’14 just around the corner, the Lustre file system is entering 2014 with growth, resolve, and momentum in the marketplace. As described today in an OpenSFS press release, 2013 was a banner year for for the organization.

Looking back on 2013 and seeing the growth and development of not only OpenSFS, but also the Lustre community as a whole, makes us extremely excited,” said Galen Shipman, OpenSFS Chairman. “Lustre is healthier than ever, and is continuing to grow as new features like Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) and Distributed Namespace (DNE) are being added that will directly benefit HPC, Big Data, and Enterprise users.”

2013 Highlights:

  • OpenSFS welcomed two new Participants – Fujitsu and NCSA – while Intel moved up to Promoter level and joined the OpenSFS board.
  • OpenSFS’s total direct financial support for the technical development and maintenance of the Lustre file system reached well over $3 million, its largest to date.
  • OpenSFS advanced its communications and marketing efforts, installed a professional management infrastructure, supported development of enhanced feature availability, and built a significantly stronger foundation for the Lustre vendor ecosystem.

For 2014, OpenSFS will focus on its commitment to the Lustre community by facilitating the promotion, protection, and advancement of Lustre through working groups, sponsorship of community events, and direct funding of Lustre development. OpenSFS is committed to improved communications and building great content for Lustre developers and users including their first annual OpenSFS Lustre Report.
