Forget 4K TV – Check out the NASA hyperwall-2

Now that the recent CES Conference has us all thinking that 4K displays are state-of-the-art, I thought it might be a good time to show this video of the hyperwall-2 at NASA. This 128-screen tiled LCD wall is arranged in a 8×16 configuration that measures 23-ft. wide by 10-ft. high. The display system is connected to the Pleiades supercomputer.

  1. Those screens they’re using are actually really low-res so if you approach any of the tiles, your eyes will see blurry content. Now imagine if this wall was composed from 128 x 4k screens 😉

    • I bet this doesn’t even get used!! Stop wasting the taxpayer’s money.

      • Actually, John. It does get used, both by visualization and data analysis experts working in the NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) facility at NASA Ames Research Center, and by visiting scientists who work closely with those experts to gain new information from their high-resolution simulations.
