logoThe NeCTAR Research Cloud in Australia will be expanded considerably during 2014 with more research cloud nodes joining and the existing cloud nodes expanding their offerings.

At the beginning of 2014, the NeCTAR research Cloud contained 6,500 CPU cores contributed by research cloud nodes at the University of Melbourne, Monash University and the Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation (QCIF).

February 2014 saw a period of growth with eResearch South Australia (eRSA) joining the federation. eRSA is expected to bring more cores online in early March 2014, bringing capacity to just under 10,000 CPU cores.

The remainder of 2014 will see further significant growth as NeCTAR plan to expand the number of CPU sores considerably, with the number of cores expected to triple to 30,000.
