kendall1I am sad to report that Ricky Kendall from Oak Ridge National Laboratory passed away this week. He was 53.

As one of our Rock Stars of HPC, Ricky came to ORNL from AMES lab and was one of a handful of leaders who helped catapult Oak Ridge to the top of high performance computing. His expertise in Computational Science were critical to fielding the most capable systems on the planet and more importantly, mentoring and attracting the highest caliber computational scientists to deliver cutting edge science on these systems. He will be truly missed both professionally and as a close friend to so many.

In lieu of flowers a non-deductible gift can be made to the Oak Ridge Youth Bowlers. Checks made payable to ORUSBC Youth. Please dress casual ‘cuz we all know that is what Rick would want.”
